Kristin Behlmann, MM, MA
Hi, I’m Kristin, a performance coach, licensed professional counselor in Texas, former orchestra director, longtime cello teacher, and active orchestral musician. My work brings together more than 20 years of experience in music and education with training in counseling and sport and performance psychology.
My path has taken me from the concert stage to the classroom and into counseling and performance coaching. Along the way, I have experienced firsthand how pressure, expectations, and demanding environments can affect confidence, focus, motivation, and enjoyment for musicians and educators.
My Performance Coaching Approach
My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to the musician or educator in front of me. I help clients understand the patterns affecting their preparation and performance, then develop strategies for focus, pre-performance routines, recovery from mistakes, confidence, and engagement.
Performance coaching is not about eliminating nerves or expecting confidence all the time. It is about building skills that remain available when pressure is present- whether someone is preparing for an audition, returning to performance, balancing teaching and performing, or navigating a demanding season.
Why I Do This Work
Music has always been central to my life. I know the meaning and connection that can come from creating, teaching, and performing - and I also know the long rehearsals, late nights, self-doubt, and weight of expectations.
Musicians and educators deserve support that honors both their artistry and their humanity. I do this work to help people navigate pressure more sustainably, trust their preparation, recover when things do not go as planned, and reconnect with what matters to them in their craft.
My Mission
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: performance should be a place of possibility, not constant pressure.
My mission is to help musicians and educators develop healthier, more sustainable ways to prepare, perform, teach, and grow - without losing their connection to meaning, creativity, and enjoyment.
